Since it was enacted in 1975, the family provision legislation, also known as the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act, has generated a large amount of press coverage. As a result of claims based either on a valid will which, a disappointed ‘beneficiary’ asserts, produces an unreasonable result or on an intestacy (occurring when a person dies without leaving a valid will).

Mohsin and Zuber Issa, the billionaire brothers who own a majority stake in UK supermarket giant Asda, are exploring a potential £13 billion merger with their filling station and convenience store chain, EG Group.

The British-Indian siblings, who made their fortune co-founding the Euro Garages chain of petrol filling stations, acquired the supermarket giant in 2021 for £6.8 billion along with private equity firm TDR Capital.

According to Campden Wealth and Raffles Family Office’s Asia-Pacific Family Office Report 2022, 42% of family offices are now engaged in sustainable investing, with 29% of their portfolios dedicated to sustainability (up 4% from 2021 and 2% higher than the global average).

Peloton co-founder sells stock worth $50 million to Michael Dell family firm

John Foley, the co-founder of fitness titan Peloton, has sold $50 million of his personal company stock to Michael Dell’s family investment firm.

The sale comes just a few weeks after Foley stepped down as chief executive, after Peloton lost more than 80% of its market value over the course of a year. Shares in the New York-based equipment and media company have lost about 75% of their value in the past 12 months.
